Changing materials
We have been thinking about how materials can change. Today we did an investigation to see what happened when we heated chocolate above a candle. Can your child tell you what happened?
Baptising our teddies
The Gunpowder Plot
We learnt about Guy Fawkes' plan to blow up the Houses of parliament. We then tried to put the events in the story in the right order.
We also learnt to famous poem:
Remeber rember the fith of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot
Fireworks
We have been making fireworks. We dipped teabags in runny paint and then threw them onto the black paper on the floor. We also used lots of different media suck at match sticks, straws, cottons buds and lillypop sticks to make fireworks.
Who we were, Who we are, Who we will be
We look at our baby bictures and thought about how we had changed. We then wrote about what we wanted to be or be able to do in the future.
Black history week
We read the famous poem about Ruby Bridges:
Mom said, "My God, what have I done?"
She spoke her heart
Ruby Bridges, she did her part
Ruby Bridges, she reflected
Ruby Bridges, we were affected
Ruby Bridges, that little child
Ruby Bridges, that world beguiled
Ruby Bridges, by a little child
Ruby Bridges, who changed the course of history
Ruby Bridges, no longer a memory but a reality
Who? "Ruby Bridges"
We then wrote our own class version
Ruby Bridges, don't be scared
Ruby Bridges, I will hold your hand
Ruby Bridges, she was kind
Ruby bridges, you helped us
Ruby Bridges, thank you for our school.
